Our History

Stuart-Rodgers Photography was founded by Betty Stuart who began her career in photography in 1945 four months after graduating from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwester University.  Facing supply and equipment challenges in the last months of World War II, Betty Stuart Photography became a successful business specializing in people and event photography.

Portraits and weddings were the primary focus of her work with a new and unique emphasis in a natural and photojournalist style.  In 1946 Betty’s husband John Boyd Rodgers joined the company and Stuart-Rodgers Photography was born.

Since then their location in Evanston was expanded to a newly restored building in 1962 at 2504 Green Bay Road.  Later a Chicago location was added and today is located at 375 W. Erie Street.   Over the years the business grew to include corporate, commercial and school photography in addition to new and innovative approaches to portraiture and wedding photography.  Stuart-Rodgers has grown to include SRimage, a division of Stuart-Rodgers Photography handling the corporate, commercial, and schools photography and Gallery Stuart-Rodgers which holds quarterly exhibits in the gallery space.

Today Stuart-Rodgers Photography is a nationally known leader in quality, personalized photography in the Chicago area.
